Summer Must-Haves

Hey lovely readers!

Another missing post, I know. I've been busy doing some house work and applying to a few jobs. Just know I might not post every single day but I will try.

Anyways, these are some of my summer must-haves. This summer I want to keep it natural in earthy colors like green and tan (or beige). Metallics are totally in this summer and it looks amazing against natural sun-kissed skin.

I made this using Polyvore. I took a screen shot of it but here's the link to my work: http://www.polyvore.com/summer_must-haves/template?id=1070774

There you can check where all the items are from.

Let me know what your summer must-haves are in the comment box down below!

Have a fantastic summery Sunday...thanks for reading!

Much love,

Top 10 Best Dressed at the CFDA 2015 Awards

Hey lovely readers!

I apologize for not posting on Tuesday or yesterday. I've been busy with some other stuff, running errands and spending some time with family members. But I'm back and I promise to keep you updated from now on.

As some of you may know the CFDA Awards happened this past Tuesday, June 2. If you don't know what CFDA stands for and what these awards are:

CFDA = Council of Fashion Designers of America. It is a non-profit trade organization for North American designers of fashion and fashion accessories.

The awards are to recognize all those who have made major contributions to the fashion world. Awards given are for design excellence to even journalism accomplishments. It's a major event in fashion.

Here's a link with more information: http://cfda.com/cfda-fashion-awards#about-the-awards

So, as you know, with major events like these comes the celebrity red carpet, as always. And the best dressed list. Everyone looked amazing! One thing I really enjoyed was how each person brought their own kind of style to the table. Everyone looked different in their own way.

With that being said, here is my Top 10 Best Dressed: (trust me this was hard to choose but I chose in terms of what I like)

#10: Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh

Williams got the Fashion Icon Award this year. These two totally rocked!

#9 Rebecca Minkoff

I really liked how simple yet chic Minkoff looked for this event.

#8 Jemima Jirke

The GIRLS star looked absolutely stunning in this red combo.

#7 Hannah Davis

This Sports Illustrated model owned this crop top look. Super rad!

#6 Vanessa Hudgens

I was completely stunned to see Miss Hudgens all dolled-up. She looked very polished!

#5 Coco Rocha

Looking like a beautiful swan! Who wouldn't love this fairytale look?

#4 Cynthia Rowley

I'm in love with this doll-like dress! And those hello-lover shoes!

# 3 Jenna Lyons

Lyons definitely defined chic that night.

#2 Chrissy Teigen

Simple yet elegant! Totally wow-ed everyone in this white number. Especially when she had a little wardrobe malfunction.

And now, the moment you've been waiting for....

#1 Harley Viera-Newton

To me, this was a show-stopper. Viera-Newton just looked so lady-like in this off-the-shoulder frock. Everything about this look was just wow!

Everyone looked absolutely beautiful that night. I only wish I could have been a part of it.

I'd really love to know what you all think of my list. Did I miss anyone? Should someone from my list be on the worst dressed list? Should I make a worst dressed list?

Leave all your comments down below! I always want to know what my readers think.

Thank you for reading...until next time!

Much love,

GIRL21

P.S. Photos are not mine. They are taken from E!News and Huffington Post.

Post Graduation Limbo

Hello again readers! (If there any in this abandoned blog).

If you are reading this as you were passing by checking out possible blogs to follow, please, don’t stop reading!

This blog post will be short and straight to the point. And reading is good for you.

Anyways, I’ve officially graduated from college. Wow, it’s difficult to see that typed. I graduated from Syracuse University on Mother’s Day (perfect gift for my mom huh?) with a Bachelor’s in Writing & Rhetoric and a minor in Public Communications Studies. It was an enjoyable yet tough ride, but I made it. And in four years, if I might add.

It feels fantastic now that I’m free from studying, but I feel like I’m in limbo. If you’ve read my old posts, and I hope you have, you’ll know that my dream is to become a writer/editor at a fashion magazine and pursue my dreams of becoming editor-in-chief of VOGUE. Obviously, I’m so very short on internships and networkings to even get a job as a janitor in their office. I’m not even close to being a receptionist there. I know I’m being completely negative here but in this day and age I have to be honest. There are thousands of women my age trying to make it in this industry who have prepared themselves since they could pick their outfits in the morning to fit in the fashion industry. I need to be realistic and my reality senses are telling me that my dreams aren’t going to happen.

At least not right away.

First thing I need to do is work harder than these prepared women. They are my competition! I’m competing against these women every single day and I’m losing. I still have no job, no internship, no apartment in NYC, and 0 experience in the fashion industry. I’m currently living at home with my mom and it’s comfortable, you know, I’m not going to deny. BUT IT SUCKS! Yes, I have the beach near by. Yes, I can watch Netflix all day. Yes, I can sleep-in. And yes, I don’t have to pay anything. But I feel so irresponsible and way too dependent. I even feel embarrassed! I admit it’s probably because I’ve been so lazy for the past four years, but it’s hard. Applying for internships or jobs is intimidating. Especially for a girl who is probably suffering from anxiety (not diagnosed) and was too shy to ever speak in class half the time because she thought she would say something stupid. Don’t get me wrong. I’m pretty smart but going to college with smarter students surrounding you in every class was threatening.

I’m not going into much detail about this, for now. What I’m trying to say here is that I’m not perfect and I may not yet be ready to get the job of my dreams but I’m sure as hell going to get there. And I’m going to work even harder for it!

Now, how do I plan to do that? Starting from today you will be reading more about me. I will be posting an article every day from now on. I have no excuses. All the posts will vary. Some will be long pieces like this one and others will just be photos of my day. But rest assured: all my posts will be the honest truth. I’m no longer that small little girl living in LaLaLand with big dreams. I am now a woman living in the real world with realistic plans.

Let’s start making this happen!

#1 Plan: Actually become a woman.

Let’s see how that goes. Stay tuned for some more real content. (Sorry, this post ended up being longer than I’d hoped).

Thanks for reading…

Love,

GIRL21

P.S. I’m now 22…I might change my blog name soon! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Follow me on Twitter, Vine, and Instagram!!!

Hey there again!

Just wanted to share my Twitter, Vine and Instagram accounts! I upload more on my Instagram than I do here on my blog so I suggest you check it out. I have cool pictures of places, food, people, outfits and even more food.

I've just started to use Vine. It's nothing that amazing but I'm putting up videos as I go, getting the hang of it.

And a lot of my Vines I put up on Twitter. It's what you'll see the most but whenever I have something to share like opinions on something I resort to Twitter.

Take a look at all three and follow me if you like!

(This is what my profiles look like.)

Thank you,

Color Vibes

Hello there!

It's been a while since I've posted, I know. I've been pretty busy visiting friends and family while I'm still here at home. I've also been working out and reading, a lot of reading as well as just going to the beach to get my tan on which has thankfully worked. I just need a little more extra time under the sun and I'm good as new, 100% tan.

But besides that let's talk about color. And not just color as in nail polish or eyeshadow and what not but color as in your hair. And I'm not talking about colors like black or brown but colors like blue, purple, magenta, pink, green, etc. I'm talking about vibrant colors that seem to catch everyone's attention these days. I have recently become rather fond of them and a desire to color my hair grew within me.

I have never felt so inclined to get such a look. I've had the ombre look and then some small highlights but that's all. My hair has a perculiar color that I never want to ruin so that's why I've always had very little done to my hair when it comes to color. But after seeing many people especially celebrities doing the ombre look with shocking colors I decided to give it a try.

And it actually turned out to be pretty cool!

(This picture was taken after the beauty salon.)

It looks nice in a ponytail.
(If you can't tell this was a rather hot day and I was at the beach.)

My hair didn't quite capture all the violet but it looks nice with the bleach in there as well. It looks reddish with a hint of purple and magenta.

If you like this look I suggest talking to your regular beautician first and see what he or she suggests for your hair type or color. Of course it's quite easy for blondes so you're in luck!

If you'd like to share some ideas I encourage you to do so, it can be about anything or if you rather comment about my hair, good or not, you can go ahead as well! I love all and any comments!

Thank you and until next time,

GIRL21

Dinner Outfit

Still Fashion Friday :)

This is what I wore yesterday to dinner with family.

It's simple yet chic and fun with the colors of summer.

Banana Republic blouse with a stitched embroidery necklace tucked in a Primark high-waist A-line skirt and paired with ankle-strap sandals from Primark as well.

This outfit is also very affordable and easy to put together! Very comfortable for dinner parties, a casual day out, and even work in this hot sunny weather.

Share your comments below! Good or bad, all are appreciated!

Thanks,

Casual Wednesday

Hey readers,

Still getting used to blogging but here's another post!

I consider today to be Fashion Friday so I'll dedicate this post to a casual outfit I put together on Wednesday.

Hope you like!

I'm wearing my favorite comfortable jeans from the Zara Basics collection paired with my grey V-neck from Old Navy. For a pop of color I topped the outfit with my ALDO baby blue bag and Primark ankle-strap sandals. I love that hint of daffodil yellow from the shoes!

This outfit is very affordable and it's perfect for a casual day out, especially for this summer and in this hot weather.

Photos taken by me with my iPhone.

Hope you all like and feel free to comment if you do or don't! Any comments are appreciated!

I'm back!

After living in the UK for 5 months I have decided to go back to blogging and this time it will be greater! And I'm going to stick to it!

I've created a schedule that will keep me on point. Each post of everyday will be dedicated to a specific topic along with regular posts on whatever I desire to share in the morning, afternoon, and night.

In the meantime I'll just share a little preview of what's to come!
